K-Wok at Cedar and Riverside now offers an extensive list of Filipino dishes, along with its regular menu of Vietnamese. Chinese and Malaysian cuisine, but you have to ask for it. Mia and Ramon Agne, who recently bought the restaurant, are working on a new menu that will include the dishes of the homeland, but until they are ready to go to the printer, they are keeping the list of Filipino dishes under the counter. Some of the dishes are pretty similar to counterparts from other Asian cuisines: pancit are stir-fried noodles, and lumpia are spring rolls. But others are more unusual - like the ginataang langka ($8.95), a rich and savory dish of fried pork with unripe jackfruit in coconut milk. There's plenty more that I would like to try, like the kare kare, beef in a peanut sauce ($12.95) and the relleno bangus (stuffed milkfish, $14.95); and a few dishes that I probably won't try, like the dinugalian, a pork blood stew.
The previous owners are still helping out in the kitchen, and the lunch buffet (Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., $6.25) still offers the same eclectic mix of Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian dishes as ever - now, with an occasional Filipino dish as well.
